The first time in history these two teams met was in 1941. Billed as the Subway Series, both teams had some major players. 1941 New York Yankees had, Joe DiMaggio, Tommy Henrich, Charlie Keller, Phil Rizzuto, Bob Feller and Johnny Murphy. 1941 Brooklyn Dodgers, Dolph Camilli, Pete Reiser, Kirby Higbe, Whitlow Wyatt, Billy Herman, Joe Medwick and PeeWee Reese. The New York Yankees beat the Brooklyn Dodgers 4-1 in the series winning games 1, 3,4 and 5. The attendance for these games were crazy. Game one and two had over 65,000 while games 3-5 had just under 35,000. The would meet again in 1947. One of the big differences this time was it went all 7 games. The 1947 Yankees still had DiMaggio, Keller, Henrich but now they have Yogi Berra. The 1947 Dodgers still had PeeWee Reese, Pete Reiser and Dixie Walker but they now had the rookie Jackie Robinson.
